Vizcom is the best-known name in AI sketch rendering for product design. This list exists for the person its pitch almost fits: you design retail displays and POP materials (PLV if you're in Europe), you tried Vizcom or you're about to, and you're wondering whether anything actually speaks your industry's language. Sketch tools are an option for sketch work. None of them know what an endcap is.
Full disclosure before the list. I've worked in point-of-purchase for close to four years and I build the first tool on it. I've kept every entry honest, including where our own tool is the wrong choice, because you'll figure that out in ten minutes of testing anyway.
Worth knowing as you read: almost none of these products train their own image model. Most rent the same engines from Google and OpenAI, ours included. So the comparison that matters isn't image quality, it's how much your industry each tool already understands before it sends the request.
1. AI POP Displays. Purpose-built for point-of-purchase
What it is. A briefing-based render tool built for one industry, meaning point-of-purchase displays and POP materials. It runs on Google's Nano Banana Pro, so the engine is rented and the value sits in the layer above it. You describe the job in plain language, covering sector, display format from a real taxonomy of floor displays, endcaps, counter units, glorifiers, shelf trays and the rest of the family, materials and style. Or you start from a sketch or reference render a customer sent you. Attach your product shots and brand assets and get a concept back in under a minute. It composites the fixture into real retail contexts and keeps product load believable, because the render's job is to survive contact with a manufacturer.
Where it stops. No real-time canvas, no 3D export, no animation. The scope is POP work, on purpose.
Price. Free plan with 15 one-time credits, no card required. Pro is $49/month for 150 renders, a founding price with the $69 list price announced up front. No AI training on your work, on any plan.
2. Vizcom. The one you're comparing against
What it is. Sketch-to-render, then render-to-3D, for professional product designers. Real-time canvas, Autodesk Fusion plugin, desktop app, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, $52M raised, used by Ford, Nissan, New Balance and Kohler. An option when your input is your own sketch and your output is a product render.
Where it stops for display work. No display format vocabulary, no retail environment library, no product-load logic. You can sketch a display and it will render it beautifully, but the format knowledge has to come from your hand. Its Unify feature will composite the result into a scene with matched lighting, which is the closest any general tool gets to the shot a client wants, and you still have to bring the aisle yourself. On the free tier, their terms say Vizcom retains title to your designs and may use them for training, and the education tier sits in the same bucket. 3. NewArc.ai. Sketch-to-render for fashion and footwear
What it is. A Vizcom-style sketch renderer aimed at fashion and footwear designers, with virtual try-on, material swaps and sketch extraction for tech packs. Entry is $19/month, though that tier is sketch-to-image only; the full toolkit including try-on starts at $39. Their content ranks for footwear design searches, which tells you where their head is.
Where it stops. Apparel and footwear first, and increasingly only. For a display fixture it's the same story as Vizcom with a narrower engine, and nothing in it knows what an endcap is. Credit where due on one point: they state plainly that they don't fine-tune on your uploads, which is a better free-tier position than most of this list.
4. PromeAI. The generalist, now mostly a video tool
What it is. A broad AI design suite on a coin system, historically covering sketch rendering, architecture, interiors and product design.
Where it stops. It has drifted hard toward AI video during 2026, and its own homepage no longer mentions packaging, retail or displays anywhere. Breadth was always the product and the centre of gravity has moved. It also doesn't publish readable prices on its pricing page, which is its own kind of answer when you're comparing tools.
5. Krea. No longer just a playground
What it is. This one has changed more than anything else on the list. Krea started as a fast real-time generation canvas and is now a full image, video and 3D suite that trains and open-sources its own foundation model, on top of aggregating around seventy third-party models. Basic is $9/month. For visual exploration and mood boards it's still arguably the most enjoyable tool here.
Where it stops. It's a creative instrument, not a workflow. No domain knowledge of anything, no brief structure, no manufacturability instincts. Great upstream of a real concept, risky as the concept itself.
6. RetailDesign.ai. Whole stores, not fixtures
What it is. AI renders of retail interiors. Drop in a floor plan or a photo of a raw space and get back a merchandised store design, from $9/month. If your job is store planning or franchise environments, this is your category.
Where it stops. It thinks in rooms, not in fixtures. You can't brief one counter display for one brand with one product load. Adjacent industry, different job. Their privacy policy also reserves the right to use anonymised, aggregated data to improve their models, which is worth knowing if the floor plan belongs to a client.
7. ArchiVinci. Interiors and shop renders from sketches
What it is. Sketch and floor-plan rendering for architecture and shop interiors, useful for branded retail environments and franchise consistency. It does run a shop-design use case, so the fit is real.
Where it stops. Same as RetailDesign.ai, meaning environment-level rather than fixture-level. A display concept inside an ArchiVinci render is set dressing, not a deliverable. Also note the price: $79/month is the highest entry point in this roundup, more than Vizcom or us.
8. Spacely. Interiors, despite what the search results suggest
What it is. An interiors and architecture renderer aimed at designers, architects and realtors, repriced in mid-2026 to $25, $50 and $100 a month.
Where it stops. It surfaces in trade-show booth searches because it has a landing page for that, but the page sits in a list beside AI Bedroom Design and AI Patio Design. It's a search surface, not a product focus. If you're designing an exhibition stand, treat it as a general interiors tool that happens to render rooms.
What about ChatGPT and Midjourney
They're the tools everyone tries first, and for display work they share one failure mode. The output looks like a display until someone who builds displays looks at it. Wrong proportions for named formats, fantasy shelf counts, and brand assets that resemble yours rather than being yours. The image quality objection is dead, the structural one isn't. They stay useful for mood boards and blue-sky exploration.
The two are not equivalent here, though. ChatGPT's current model takes multiple reference images, follows detailed instruction and edits without regenerating, so a patient designer with the industry knowledge already in their head can get somewhere with it. Midjourney can't do those three things: one reference image per prompt, an editor two model generations behind, and its own docs warning off putting a company name on a logo. How to choose in one minute
- Your input is a client brief, or a sketch or reference of a POP display, and your output is a display concept. AI POP Displays.

One closing note on how to compare these. A year ago the honest differentiator was the free tier, and that's gone; they all have one now. The line that still separates them is what the vendor may do with your uploads, and on that the list splits cleanly. Some promise never to train on your work, some reserve the right to use free-tier or aggregated content, and at least one takes title to free-tier designs outright. If the concept on your screen is a retail client's unreleased launch, that's the paragraph to read before the pricing table.

Why isn't Midjourney on the list?
Because it isn't a design platform, it's an image model, and we compared it separately in AI POP Displays vs Midjourney. The short version: spectacular for mood boards, unreliable for format-correct display concepts, and there's no structured way to feed it your product, brand assets and format constraints.
Do any of these tools handle in-store context?
Partly. Retail-space tools (RetailDesign.ai, ArchiVinci) render whole store interiors, which helps for store design but not for a single fixture concept. Vizcom can composite a rendered object into a scene and match the lighting, but you have to supply the scene. AI POP Displays composites one display into a retail environment (aisle, pharmacy, boutique) as a built-in option, which is the shot a client approves.
Can any AI tool produce production files for a display?
No. Every tool here produces concept renders. CAD, dielines, structural engineering and print specs come from the manufacturer after concept approval, in software like Esko ArtiosCAD, AG/CAD KASEMAKE, Arden Impact or EngView. What changes between tools is how close the concept is to something manufacturable, which decides how much rework happens downstream.
